Project Appleseed Instructors

Part Teacher, Part Storyteller

Becoming a Project Appleseed instructor is a life-changing opportunity. Our instructors are individuals who are passionate about marksmanship, history, and the principles that the United States was founded upon. These instructors play a vital role in teaching and preserving traditional rifle marksmanship skills by sharing stories of the events and sacrifices that took place during the American Revolutionary War.

As a Project Appleseed instructor, you have the privilege to teach marksmanship to Americans of all ages and skill levels. You will guide them through a comprehensive curriculum that includes marksmanship instruction and demonstrations along with hands-on shooting exercises.

A Project Appleseed instructor is also a storyteller, sharing the stories of the men and women who fought for our freedom and the principles they believed in. By weaving history into marksmanship lessons, instructors can create a powerful and engaging learning experience. This deepens our appreciation of our nation’s heritage.

  1. Eligibility. Attend two Project Appleseed events as a participant and earn a score of 210 or better on the Appleseed Qualification Test (AQT). Then talk to your event leader (Shoot Boss) about becoming a volunteer.
  2. IIT Program. Participate in the Instructor-In Training (IIT) Program. You are already an expert shot. We will teach you how to become an expert rifle instructor. We will provide you with mentorship and hands-on experience. You’ll learn while working alongside experienced instructors. You’ll refine your teaching skills and learn the Project Appleseed curriculum.
  3. Continuing professional development. The best teachers are lifetime students. Through professional development weekends, on-the-job training, self-study, and online learning opportunities, you’ll have opportunities to grow!
